ACC Basketball tournament announcements.

ACC (Accident Compensation Corporation) is a Platinum Sponsor of the Easter Tournament and of the basketball competition in particular.

Tiniball There is a tiniball grade for players 7 years and under. There are 2 teams for this grade so far with all players having started learning to play in the last 4 weeks. We decided to separate the younger players as they were physically smaller and less coordinated than the older group. If any Centre can make up more teams in this grade or have players who wish to be placed in a team, please let Edmond Yee know urgently (eyee01@gmail.com).

Miniball The miniball grade will be for 8 & 9 year old players. Would all Centres who have entered teams in the miniball category, please confirm whether these teams qualify for tiniball or miniball.

Tiniball, miniball and intermediate games will not necessarily be played in a block and are likely to be spread throughout the tournament weekend.

Veterans Dispensation has been granted for a 39 year old player to play in one of the Veteran’s teams. Applications will be decided on a case by case basis. The player had children playing basketball, he had not played basketball at any level for more than 6 years and he is not playing in the men’s open grade. The dispensation was granted so he could participate in the tournament in some way.

Any players who don’t have a veteran’s team to play for and wish to be placed in a team should contact me as soon as possible.

We also plan to hold a game or games depending on the response for veterans players 50 or more years of age. Priority will be given to more senior players who are not playing in the regular veteran’s grade although those players will be considered to make up numbers. Please enter a team or let us know if you wish to be placed in a team.
