NZCA (Canterbury Branch) will begin the 2009 NZCA Easter Sports and Cultural Tournament in great fanfare with an Opening Ceremony and Cultural Show in the style of popular television shows “America’s Most Talented” and “Stars in your Eyes”. All branches are invited to submit entries, with conditions as follows:

Multimedia

• May be filmed on any device, as long as the resulting movie file can:
• Be played using Windows Media Player (eg.avi, mpg format)
• Short film on any theme or style (as long as it is tasteful and in the spirit of the Tournament)
• Maximum 3 minutes allowed (including titles and credits)
• May be subject to censorship if deemed distasteful or objectionable by the organisers
• Entry must be submitted to the organizer on CD-ROM before 5th April 2009

Dance/Music

• Can be any kind of live dancing and/or musical performance (solo or group)
• Music for dancers must be able to be played on a CD, tape, Windows Media Player or
• Performed live on musical instruments that the performers must provide themselves (except piano)
• Maximum 3 minutes allowed

Open

• Anything else (including another multimedia or dance/music entry) e.g. ventriloquist, juggling, magician, comedian, bike tricks or any other talent
• Solo or group
• Any special equipment must be provided by the performers themselves
• Maximum 3 minutes allowed

Each Branch may enter a maximum of ONE ITEM PER CATEGORY. Branches should hold their own heats for selecting their best entry for each category.

Each branch must provide a 1 minute video promotional video introducing all their Cultural Show entrants and/or background to their entries. The video must be converted to either .avi or .mpg format and put on CD-ROM and posted to the organizer before 5th April 2009.

Judging: Three independent judges will make a brief assessment (without scoring) following each entry, and at the end of all the performances make a decision of the winner of each category. Their decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into. A prize will be awarded to the winner of each category.
